Georg Motorsport shines at the Trabant race day at the Lausitzring!
Georg Motorsport showed an impressive performance in the “660 Minutes from the Lausitzring” endurance race on Saturday. The event took place in Brandenburg and was unique because only Trabant vehicles were allowed to take part in the race. A total of 30 participants started, while Georg Motorsport started from 27th place. Team owner Tibor Georg mentioned that the preparation for this race was underestimated, but his team fought to the finish line and ultimately finished 11th after several disqualifications of other vehicles.
The team's drivers were Thorsten Kramer, Christoph Gähler, Andreas Jürgens and Justus Altenburger. It was the first time that Kramer and Gähler sat in a Trabant, while Altenburger even completed his first car race. Andreas Jürgens, as an experienced “team captain”, brought valuable experience in Trabant racing.
Highlights of the race
The team's Trabant racing car had an output of 26 hp. Despite this low engine power, the team showed remarkable teamwork and skill, resulting in a comeback that allowed them to improve as the race progressed. After numerous overtaking maneuvers and due to disqualifications from other drivers, they ultimately reach 11th place.
After the race, Tibor Georg expressed his satisfaction with the performance of both the vehicle and the team. This suggests positive developments for future races. Georg Motorsport is already planning to take part in the ADAC Racing Weekend at the Nürburgring on the last weekend in June. Here the team will compete in the ADAC Tourenwagen Junior Cup with three vehicles and will also be represented in the DMV BMW 318ti Cup, which indicates expansion and further challenges.
The event was a step towards more racing experience for the drivers and the team. Georg Motorsport remains optimistic that they can master the next challenge just as successfully as they did at the Lausitzring. With a committed team and a clear focus on the coming races, exciting times lie ahead for motorsports enthusiasts.
