New district leader Gumenick is planning lively changes in Feuerbach!
On October 18, 2025, Nick Gumenick was officially introduced as the new district leader of Feuerbach. The district leader and his predecessor, EBM Mayer, emphasized the importance of Gumenick's experience in local administration. For Gumenick, the development and upgrading of the district are at the center of his agenda in order to further develop Feuerbach as an attractive place to live, work and live.
A central concern of Gumenick is to exploit the potential in the district. His planned measures include the upgrading of Stuttgarter Straße and the conversion of disused commercial areas into lively districts. In addition, he would like to strengthen retail and build a citizen-oriented administration.
Commitment to the community
A key focus is also on supporting and promoting voluntary work. Gumenick reiterated the need for joint urban development that includes all relevant actors such as the local council, the administration, the district advisory board, the citizens and the association landscape.
In this context, this is planned House of Commitment of great importance in Stuttgart. This place is intended to bring together the various projects and events that serve the well-being of the city community. The aim of the house is to bring creative people and committed people together and to offer support and advice to interested parties, organizations and foundations.
Planned facilities and their functions
The House of Engagement will be equipped with flexible event rooms, co-working spaces, office space as well as a media room and a café. It should be a place of encounter and exchange that brings people of different ages and backgrounds together.
Particular emphasis is placed on low-threshold and barrier-free access that is well connected to the neighborhood. This initiative also includes collaboration between administration, politics, companies and civil society to initiate community projects and increase the visibility of civic engagement.
The plans for the House of Engagement have been in development for four years. During this time, various actors were involved and the project was accepted into the IBA'27 network in 2019. Since summer 2020 there has been an experimental room at Katharinenstrasse 21D, which serves as a precursor to the future house.
Discussions are currently underway about possible real estate locations in a central location to ensure that the House of Engagement offers good accessibility for all citizens and can make a valuable contribution to combating loneliness.
Gumenick's ambitious plans, complemented by the House of Engagement initiative, demonstrate a clear commitment to strengthening the community and improving the quality of life in Feuerbach and beyond.
