Barn fire in Möckmühl: High damage and uninhabitable houses!

On June 9, 2025, a devastating fire occurred in Möckmühl-Bittelbronn in the Heilbronn district. At around 12:30 p.m. the fire broke out in a barn, which then burned down completely. The fire quickly spread to an adjacent residential building, which also became uninhabitable due to the flames. A total of three residential buildings were affected by the flames, and their habitability is currently unclear.

As [zvw.de](https://www.zvw.de/baden-w%C3%BCrttemberg/scheunenbrand-greift-auf-wohnhaus-%C3%BCber-hoher- Schaden_arid-964397) reports, the estimated damage is around 300,000 euros. The extreme temperatures and the narrow development also caused damage to the facades of two other houses. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Rescue measures and fire brigade operations

The fire brigade was quickly on the scene and was able to successfully rescue several cats from a smoke-filled outbuilding. The fire was already visible from a considerable distance, which led to numerous alarms being reported to the fire department and police. As a result, the NINA warning app was activated, which issued a danger warning about smoke nuisance. That warning was lifted around 2:50 p.m.

The extinguishing work continued until around 3 p.m. as several embers still required the fire department to intervene. The cause of the fire itself is currently unknown and investigations are still ongoing. The incident raises questions about safety in heavily built-up residential areas, particularly in relation to the risk of fire and protective measures for adjacent buildings, as tagesschau.de notes.
