Mariah Carey celebrates comeback: new single Type Dangerous” released!
Mariah Carey is back on the music stage and released her new single “Type Dangerous” today, June 6, 2025. This comeback single is the first new music the 56-year-old singer has released since her last album, 2018's Caution. As ZVW reports, Carey has only released anniversary editions of older hits in the meantime, which makes the release of “Type Dangerous” all the more meaningful.
The announcement of the single came on a teaser video that Carey posted on Instagram. In it, she sits in a car with a document folder that says "MC16," and a look at the vehicle's license plate also shows "MC 16." Carey's musical style, which includes R&B, hip-hop and pop, is retained in this new release.
Upcoming album and collaboration
As That Grape Juice adds, "Type Dangerous" will be part of Carey's upcoming sixteenth studio album. Fans can pre-save the single and look forward to a collaboration with acclaimed artist Anderson .Paak, whose productions are expected to be featured on the new album. The album will also be released to coincide with Carey's receipt of the Ultimate Icon Award at the 2025 BET Awards on June 9.
