Farewell concert by Rosa Fussel: Waiblingen celebrates soul and party!

On June 28, 2024, the old town festival in Waiblingen will be ceremoniously opened for the 48th time. Mayor Sebastian Wolf will start the first official part of the festival at 7 p.m. on Elsbeth-und-Hermann-Zeller-Platz. At 6:45 p.m., tower brass will welcome visitors with fanfares, heating up the mood for a weekend full of music and entertainment.

A highlight of the old town festival will be the farewell concert by the well-known Waiblingen band Rosa Fussel, which will play on Friday from 8.30 p.m. on the town hall square. The band has made a name for itself with its soul music, which always creates a party atmosphere, and has appeared on stage at the Old Town Festival many times. Her performances are famous for hits like “Brick House” by the Commodores and “Mustang Sally” by Wilson Pickett. Special attention will be focused on the band as this is their last concert at the Altstadtfest, as zvw.de reports.

A versatile program

The Old Town Festival offers a varied program. On Saturday the day begins with a morning pint, where the band Jonge Remstäler will perform on Zeller-Platz from 11.30 a.m. A concert with Saxissimo will be organized for families on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in St. Michael's Church. This is all about entertainment for young and old.

In addition, visitors can experience the “Waiblingen rocks” event on Saturday between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on the town hall square. On Sunday from 11 a.m. there will be a fanfare by the volunteer fire department. The organizers have provided a variety of musical accompaniment, which will be heard at various locations throughout the festival.

Culinary and cultural offerings

Another major attraction is the Staufer spectacle on the Brühlwiese, where craft demonstrations, knight games and medieval food and drinks are offered. Entry to this part of the festival is free, and dogs on a leash are also allowed. In addition to the Staufer spectacle, a children's flea market will be held on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Langen Straße, which can be visited without registration.

For the regional cultural aspects of the festival, an ecumenical service will also take place on Sunday at 10 a.m. on Zeller-Platz, surrounded by music and a festive atmosphere. In the event of bad weather, this service will be celebrated in St. Michael's Church.

The festival times are as follows: On Friday from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. (music) and serving until 1:30 a.m., on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The details and further information can be found on the official website Stuttgarter Nachrichten.
