It's an INCREDIBLE story that brings the walls of the Rainbrunnenschule in Schorndorf to life! The renowned sculptor Ebba Kaynak teamed up with a group of enthusiastic second graders to create a fascinating art project - and the results are nothing short of SHOCKING! Nobody would have ever expected these impressive guardian figures made of walnut wood!
Since the elementary school opened in 2022, Kaynak has been a constant source of inspiration for students. This creative spirit visits the school every year and has now launched the “Art in Architecture” project. But this is just the beginning of the exciting journey of discovery that awaits the children and the entire school community!
The Guardians: Symbols of Hope and Strength
The artworks created in this project are not only impressive, they also carry a deeper message! Kaynak has created three impressive “guardians” within the new elementary school building, which are symbols of power and strength! These guardians come from an almost unbelievable story: they come from an oak tree planted in France in 1789 that fell over when the school was being rebuilt!
Each Guardian has its own targeted function. The Rain Fountain Guardian embodies the message that learning and playing are closely linked. The Games Guardian, another work of art, reminds us of the importance of games and fun in children's lives by, among other things, focusing on football games. And then there is the biotope guardian, who was lasered into the base of the school and works to protect animals and plants in the water - a true heroic act for the environment!
Stories that touch – support through art
But it gets even better! Kaynak has written stories for each guard, which can be read on the floor plate. These stories offer children orientation and security and make learning an unforgettable experience. The children are not only introduced to the world of art, but also made aware of the importance of nature!
With plans to continue creating art with the children in the coming years, based on her children's book, Guardians on the Move, Kaynak will continue to play a key role in the educational development of these little artists. The personal exchange with this venerable artist is a gift that gives students insights into creative processes and new experiences.
