In 2025 the Wieslauftalbahn will celebrate its 30th anniversary. To mark this occasion, a special open workshop day will take place on Saturday, June 28th. This weekend, June 28th and 29th, all passengers have the opportunity to use the Wieslauftalbahn free of charge. This applies to the route between Schorndorf and Rudersberg-Nord, like that Stuttgart News report.
This anniversary offer is aimed particularly at all those who do not have a Deutschland Ticket, a D-Ticket JugendBW or a VVS subscription or time ticket. It is therefore an excellent opportunity for many who would like to experience an excursion destination in the Wieslauftal.
How to get there
When traveling from Stuttgart, the transport companies recommend using the S-Bahn or regional trains. These offer a journey time of around 30 minutes to Schorndorf. However, it is important to purchase a regular VVS ticket for the journey to Schorndorf. Alternatively, passengers can schedule their individual timetable via the VVS homepage or access the “VVS mobil” app.
Programs and Attractions
The open workshop day on June 28th will take place in the workshop hall in Rudersberg, Postplatz 7, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The range of events is aimed primarily at families with children and includes numerous exciting activities. Visitors can gain insight into the workshop, ride in the driver's cab, try their hand at the wheel of fortune and take part in various craft activities. Catering options are also provided to make the day a completely successful experience.
