On June 6, 2025, the city of Fellbach put up a construction fence around the Schwabenlandhalle pond. This step was necessary because technical defects in the water basin pose a potential risk of accidents for visitors. The pond had to be drained and is now fenced off to ensure the safety of visitors during upcoming events, particularly the Fiesta International, scheduled to take place on the second weekend of June. Swimming in the pond is expressly prohibited during the events.
As Stuttgarter Nachrichten reports, there were technical problems with a filter on June 4, 2025 of the pond that failed. This meant the water could not be contained, leading to minor flooding in the area. The building yard has already ordered spare parts, which are scheduled to be installed in about two weeks after the Whitsun holidays. The construction fence not only serves to protect visitors from falling into the pool, but also to protect the technology from further damage.
