Excavator robber is up to mischief in Berglen – police are looking for witnesses!

A suspected case of vandalism shocked the quiet community of Berglen in the Rems-Murr district. According to the police investigation, an excavator was stolen from a hiking parking lot on State Road 1120 between Friday, June 6th and Wednesday, June 11th, 2025. The excavator was parked there when the unknown perpetrator became active and apparently had experience in dealing with larger machines. The stolen excavator was driven into adjacent forest and forest roads and soil and gravel paths were dug up in several places.

The police officers assume that the perpetrator has in-depth knowledge of using excavators because the work carried out appears to be precise and considered. After the vandalism, the perpetrator returned the excavator to the original location so that additional information could be provided to help solve the crime. The estimated property damage is around 8,000 euros, which is particularly worrying for the community and those responsible.
