Illegal car racing in Ludwigsburg: Two women die tragically!
On Sunday, June 1st, 2025, a tragic incident related to illegal car racing occurred in the Ludwigsburg region. On Schwieberdinger Straße, towards the Kepler Bridge, several vehicles took part in an illegal race. These include a black VW Golf with Munich license plates, a white VW Golf and a black Hyundai i30. A witness reported that traffic was slowed down sharply by the black VW Golf. Despite an immediate police search, it was unsuccessful. An investigation into suspected illegal motor vehicle racing is ongoing and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward for further information. This is reported by Ludwigsburg24.
A particularly tragic element of this incident is that two women died when they were caught in an uninvolved vehicle. The incident has reignited public discussion about illegal car racing. According to the Baden-Württemberg Police Union (GdP), the demand for consistent prosecution and increased prevention measures is particularly loud. Thomas Mohr, the deputy state chairman of the GdP, emphasizes that the tightening of the law since October 2017 is not enough to prevent such tragedies. Since then, illegal car racing has been considered a criminal offense and can be punished with prison sentences of up to two years; In the case of deaths, this penalty can even double, reports Voice.
Prevention and police measures
Calls for stricter supervision and more police presence in places where speeders congregate are growing louder. In Mannheim there is already a specialized investigation group for the poser scene that carries out targeted checks and secures illegally converted vehicles. Mohr emphasizes that such measures are successful in Mannheim and appeals to those responsible that illegal races are grossly negligent and endanger the lives of bystanders.
In addition to the incidents in Ludwigsburg, other events have made headlines in the region. On Friday, May 30, 2025, a 29-year-old motorcyclist fell on district road 1643 between Sachsenheim-Häfnerhaslach and Zaberfeld and suffered serious injuries. He was taken to hospital in a rescue helicopter, causing material damage of around 6,000 euros. Furthermore, on the night of Saturday to Sunday, between May 31st and June 1st, two club houses in Remseck am Neckar were broken into, which resulted in property damage of around 6,500 euros, while the loot amounted to around 250 euros in cash and some keys.

In addition, several cars were broken into in Tamm and Marbach am Neckar on the same day. The perpetrators broke windows and stole handbags worth around 785 euros.
