Gallery 10Point3” in Oschatz: Art in the car dealership – Discover now!
The art scene in Oschatz is receiving a new impulse: Christiane Gesell is opening the gallery “10Point3” today. This gallery has set itself the goal of presenting regional artists and bringing them into the public eye. To achieve this, the first exhibition will take place at the Gruma car dealership. An unusual location for an art gallery, but as Gesell points out, suitable spaces were difficult to find. The exhibition is planned for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and shows 15 large-format works as well as many smaller pictures by Anke Tamm, an artist from Oschatz who has already gained national and international experience.
Combining the exhibition with the dealership's open day is a strategic decision aimed at reaching a wider audience and promoting interest in regional art. Christiane Gesell, who previously ran a fashion store and now runs an insurance agency, brings a lot of experience to the project. She received her artistic training from Claus Kretzschmar, a renowned painter in the region.
Long-term prospects for the gallery
Gesell has big plans for “10Point3”. She wants to establish the gallery as a permanent platform for art and culture in the region. This is evident in their enthusiasm and commitment to supporting the local arts scene. Her vision is to provide a platform for artists while at the same time raising public awareness of the importance of art.
In an interview with Anke Gesell, who plays an integral role in the gallery, she describes her experiences as an artist and the challenges that come with it. She reflects on her training at the University of Graphics and Book Arts (HGB), where she graduated in 2008. It was important for Gesell to develop her own style during this time and learn how to use art as a means of expression.
Art as expression and livelihood
Anke Gesell also emphasizes the need to be paid for one's work, which is often a challenge in the art world. She sees it as legitimate to pursue financial security while maintaining her creative freedom. Her future plans include an increased orientation toward drawing, a direction that brings her joy and is practical for her travels.
The opening of the “10Point3” gallery will not only be an occasion for celebration, but also a significant development for the cultural landscape in Oschatz. Gesell invites anyone interested to visit her studio and familiarize themselves with the wonderful world of art.
