Giant power grid project: This will strengthen the supply between Besigheim and Ludwigsburg!

TransnetBW is currently planning a comprehensive replacement of the power lines between Besigheim and Ludwigsburg. The aim of this project is to strengthen the power grid and ensure grid stability as part of the energy transition. The company's aim is to increase security of supply in the Stuttgart metropolitan region and prevent bottlenecks due to the growing transport needs for renewable energies. According to the information from Stuttgart News There will be an information stand on July 2nd in Kleinbottwar to inform the public about the network expansion project “Middle Neckar Area Network Strengthening”.

The information stand is open from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Bottwartalhalle. Here, citizens can get in direct contact with experts from planning, approval, construction and communication. The topics covered at the information stand include, among other things, the route, the approval process, the protection of people and the environment as well as information on electromagnetic fields and emissions. It is planned that the existing power lines will be dismantled and replaced with modern lines.

Public participation and approval process

With regard to the approval process, it is important to know that the planning approval authority will display the relevant documents in the affected cities and municipalities for four weeks. During this time, citizens can submit comments. In addition, a parallel hearing will be held with those responsible for public affairs, which include specialist authorities from district offices, cities, municipalities and associations. This information comes from TransnetBW.

The comments from the public and the results of the hearing will be incorporated into further planning and may possibly result in adjustments, such as changes to the route. After the hearing, a discussion date will be scheduled by the lead authority. Objections raised against the planning in a timely manner will be discussed at this meeting. This discussion is generally not public and takes place among the approval authority, the project developer, affected authorities and other written objections.

The information events and the transparent involvement of the public are fundamental elements in promoting trust in the planning and implementation of these necessary infrastructure projects. TransnetBW relies on comprehensive information and participation of citizens in order to actively address the challenges of the energy transition.
