The Naturvision Festival is celebrating its return to Ludwigsburg this year and will take place from June 25th to 29th, 2025 on the newly designed Arsenalplatz. Stuttgarter Nachrichten reports that the festival has been going on for over has been an integral part of the cultural program for a decade and this year focuses on the themes of returning to nature and preserving valuable ecosystems. Entry is free and there are around 300 seats available, including 60 lounge chairs.
The screen will be positioned at the southern end of the square, directly in front of the State Archives. The program offers numerous highlights, including the Oscar-winning animated adventure “Flow” on Friday at 8 p.m. and the children’s film “Fox and Rabbit Save the Forest” on Saturday at 4 p.m. Sunday begins with the documentary “Orcas – Rulers of the Seas” at 11 a.m. and ends at 8 p.m. with the International Ocean Film Tour.
A festival with vision
The festival not only stands for entertainment, but also for critical discussion of environmental and nature conservation issues. Stuttgarter Zeitung highlights that a total of 122 films will be shown, which are both entertain as well as inform. Competition films address important issues such as seal conservation and the presence of wolves near humans. In addition, 13 prizes will be awarded to recognize outstanding films.
Ralph Thoms, who directs the festival, emphasizes the importance of identifying solutions to environmental problems. For many visitors, the festival offers a platform to discuss critical films and topics that are often left out of the media.
Diverse events and innovations
New this year is the option to rent wireless headphones for a deposit of ten euros to ensure an improved sound experience. There will also be interesting lectures, including from climate journalist Louisa Schneider, as well as a science slam.
The official opening of the festival will take place on June 25th by Environment Minister Thekla Walker and Mayor Matthias Knecht with the film “Wild Greenland – Ice World in Transition”. Interest in the events is constantly growing, and the festival is attracting more and more people who are committed to environmental issues.
