Frankfurt: Foundation stone laid for sustainable office complex at Hafenpark!
On June 16, 2025, the foundation stone was laid for a new office complex on Hanauer Landstrasse in Frankfurt. The two-part building, known as “ANQR”, will be located in the Hafenpark district, not far from the European Central Bank. The project is being implemented by the Hamburg project developer B&L. The Meixner Schlüter Wendt architectural firm is responsible for the planning.
The office complex consists of an impressive 16-story high-rise and a seven-story office building. There is space for over 3,800 jobs on a rentable area of 64,700 square meters. What is particularly noteworthy is that Bank ING has already secured 32,000 square meters for its German headquarters. The move to Ostend is scheduled for completion of the project in 2028.
Sustainability and infrastructure
The project is considered one of the most sustainable office projects in Germany because it does not use fossil fuels in its operation. The development also has an underground car park with 540 parking spaces, all of which are equipped with charging power. There are 900 parking spaces available for cyclists, which even have their own elevator.
The shell construction work for the project began in February. In this context, 300 tons of reinforcing steel were installed for the floor slab, with completion targeted for the end of May 2025. The shell of the underground car park is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter. The Honsell Triangle, where the office complex is being built, had been lying idle for more than 20 years because there was a long lack of agreement between the city and the developer.
ING’s strategic decision
Nurten Erdogan, CFO of ING in Germany, explained that Frankfurt was the first choice for the new location. Various options in the city were examined before the decision was made to set up the new HPQ offices in the Hafenpark district. Important factors included the very good transport connections, the developed infrastructure in the area and the quality of the modern office space.
Mike Josef, Mayor of Frankfurt am Main, assessed ING's decision to stay in Frankfurt as a significant commitment to the financial center and the city. With ING, the Hafenpark district will receive a prominent, long-term anchor tenant in 2028. B&L has already completed a hotel and several residential buildings on the site since 2019. In the future, the company is planning another hotel on the Osthafenmole, although the schedule is still unknown.
