Kornwestheim rocks: music series is looking for a new organizer for 2026!

The city of Kornwestheim has put out a call for tenders for its popular music event series “Kornwestheim rocks!” announced. The free open-air concerts have been taking place during the summer holidays since 2017 and are very popular. In recent years, the concert series has firmly established itself in the city's summer events calendar and will be continued this year.

Applications for the next edition of the concert series can be submitted by interested parties between June 6, 2025 and July 24, 2025. One goal of the call for proposals is to create a legally secure basis for the format and thus motivate other organizers to submit innovative concepts. Mayor Martina Koch-Haßdenteufel emphasizes the reversal of the previous organizer, Eventkartell GmbH under the direction of Johannes Leichtle, which has offered free entertainment in recent years. Financing comes from the sale of food and drinks as well as sponsorship.

Details about the tender

The city of Kornwestheim will support the new concert series with a grant of 10,000 euros. The tender takes place in the form of a concession competition, which is divided into two phases. Interested organizers must first submit an application to participate as well as an initial offer and a concept. Once these offers have been evaluated, three to five of the top-ranked applicants are expected to be invited to negotiate before final offers are made.

The award decision is to be made on October 9, 2025 at the first meeting of the Administrative and Finance Committee after the summer break. An external consultant also confirmed the legal admissibility of the free offer, which is of great importance for the tender.

The 2025 program and outlook for 2026

The current season offers a varied program, including five performances by internationally successful cover bands such as AC/DC, Coldplay, Bon Jovi and Die Toten Hosen. These will take place on five Tuesdays on the Kornwestheim market square in order to offer the citizens unforgettable experiences.

With this call for proposals, the city of Kornwestheim not only aims to secure the concert series, but also to allow other organizers to take part in this successful format. In two years “Kornwestheim will rock!” celebrate its 10th anniversary, and with an eye to the future, the city is thinking about new concepts to improve the concert and festival feeling.
