John Gerzen, a 33-year-old former Daimler employee, has opened his own pizza delivery service called “Johnny’s Pizza” in Remseck-Pattonville. Gerzen's move from the automotive sector to the world of pizza came after his predecessor left the job to move into the travel industry. He is officially released until June 2026, giving him enough time to establish himself in his new business area. Gerzen, who is a father of three, was looking for a way to spend more time with his children, which he often missed during his time at Daimler.
In order to gain the necessary expertise in pizza baking, Gerzen acquired all the necessary skills within a year. At the beginning, he worked as a driver for two months before he started working in the pizza kitchen himself. His company now employs 15 drivers and places great value on a family working environment.

For Gerzen, the secret to a really good pizza dough is crucial. It combines fresh yeast, salt and high-quality oil and lets the dough mature in the refrigerator for 48 hours. Guests praise not only the taste, but also the fresh ingredients and the flexibility to make individual special requests.
Most customers come from the immediate Pattonville area, with many choosing to pick up their pizzas themselves, although delivery is free. Gerzen's location, which is on the site of a former US barracks, also enables an expanded radius of action for deliveries.
