Renovation of the K1657 in Gerlingen: diversions and full closures from June 30th!

On Monday, June 30th, extensive renovation work on the district road K1657 will begin in Gerlingen. This measure is urgently needed to address the numerous road depressions and cracks that endanger road safety. As LKZ reports, the project includes the renewal of the asphalt surface as well as the renovation of supply lines and the barrier-free expansion of the Bus stop on Ringstrasse.

The city of Gerlingen will also be active during the construction work by helping to renovate water pipes and sewers. In addition, Netze BW is laying a new medium-voltage line. The construction work extends over an approximately 500 meter long section, which extends from the Rosenstrasse intersection to the junction with the “Im Bonholz” dirt road.

Detours and traffic disruptions

During the renovation, which is expected to take three months, the K1657 will be completely closed to cars, cyclists, pedestrians and bus traffic. The affected passengers, especially at the Ringstrasse and Leonberger Strasse stops, are asked to find out about the possible timetable changes. According to City News, there will be a regional diversion for motorized traffic that leads from Leonberg via Ditzingen to Gerlingen and back.

Despite the construction work, the Ringstrasse commercial area remains easily accessible from the direction of Leonberg in the first two construction phases. In the third construction phase, access is only possible from the direction of Gerlingen.

Financing and goals of the renovation

The total costs for the renovation measures amount to around 920,000 euros. Around 470,000 euros of this sum will be paid by the Ludwigsburg district, the rest will be borne by the city of Gerlingen. The aim of the renovation is to increase traffic safety and sustainably improve the infrastructure, which should also optimize conditions for cyclists.

The authorities ask residents and road users to understand the inevitable restrictions during the construction period. The measure represents an important step towards improving road conditions in Gerlingen, the urgency of which should not be underestimated in the current situation.
