Running spectacle despite the rain: KSG athletics inspires in Gerlingen!

On June 4, 2025, KSG Athletics celebrated Global Running Day with a running event that was a great success despite unexpected rain. Around 40 participants gathered on the picturesque Schillerhöhe and enjoyed the opportunity to run and walk at different speeds. The good spirits of the participants remained unaffected by the weather conditions, and some runners even took part in the event from their holiday destination.

The run offered a welcome opportunity to exercise in a friendly atmosphere and make contacts. Sufficient snacks and drinks were provided at the finish area, which contributed to the relaxed atmosphere. The fundraising campaign in cooperation with the Weltladen Gerlingen was particularly pleasing, bringing in an impressive 500 euros to give children and families in Ghana access to clean water, they reported Stuttgart News.

Running and walking meeting: moving together

The KSG Athletics also organizes a weekly running and walking meeting, which offers a number of benefits for running enthusiasts. These meetings take place on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 3:00 p.m., and during the summer months, Sunday meetings at 9:30 a.m. are also offered by arrangement. The shared routes last approximately 1 to 1.5 hours and cover distances of 6 to 15 kilometers, depending on the speed of the participants.

Each group is led by an experienced runner, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. The varied routes through the beautiful running area, including the Bärensee, Solitude Castle and the Mahdental, offer both a sporting challenge and scenic enjoyment. The friendly and entertaining atmosphere is part of the meeting, and although conversations sometimes die down on steep climbs, the community spirit remains strong. Participation in the running and walking meeting is possible without joining a club, which makes access easier for anyone interested ksg-leichtathletik.de reported.

If you need further information or are interested in the meetings, you can contact the running club leader Anja Worm directly at the email address lauftreff@ksg-gerlingen.de. KSG Athletics is happy to see new faces and warmly welcomes sports enthusiasts!
