Last weekend, the Gerlingen athletes once again demonstrated their skills at the student sports festival in Degerloch. The event, which took place on September 29, 2024, not only brought exciting competitions, but also numerous successes for the athletes. Calla Bargen (W10), Lilou Breitfeld (W11) and Toko Herrbach (W12) secured victory in the long jump in their age groups. The performances of Calla, Lilou and Toko in the sprint were particularly notable, where they also took second place. Massimo Sica, who competed in the M13, achieved a strong second place in the long jump and took sixth place in the sprint. Julia Maric (W11) and Elisa Scholl (W12) also contributed to the successes by taking 6th and 7th place in the long jump.
Particularly noteworthy is the results of the U12 girls: Calla, Lilou, Elisa and Sacha finished fourth in the 4x75m relay. Ella Breitfeld (W8) shone with a victory in the three-way competition and was the best athlete in her year in all three disciplines, which she completed masterfully, while Elodie Sica (W9) took third place in the three-way competition.
Strong performance despite challenges
Competitions like this show the enormous density of talent in the Gerlingen KSG running team, which was particularly successful this year. On the same day, several athletes competed in other disciplines and ensured exciting results. For example, Karim and Malik were able to achieve top ten placements in the sprint and long jump, thus contributing to the team's positive balance.
Another highlight was the performance of the U14 relay team, which landed in second place on the WLV best list in a new best time. The individual competitions were also characterized by personal bests: Anja improved her time by over 30 seconds compared to the previous year. In the W13, Merle, Leyla and Marietta excelled, taking places 1, 3 and 5. Overall, the KSG running team from Gerlingen was able to take home many medals and certificates for their achievements at the sports festival.
The event not only focused on competition, but also strengthened a sense of community among the athletes and training parents. It becomes clear that the championships and sporting challenges also bring great fun for everyone involved.
