This morning around 10:30 a.m. a serious traffic accident occurred in Heusweiler, Saarbrücker Straße. A 78-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car while crossing the street at a pedestrian traffic light. The 68-year-old driver of the vehicle, who comes from Riegelsberg, stopped after the collision and remained at the scene of the accident.

As saarbruecker-zeitung.de reports, the injured woman was immediately taken to a hospital. The police have not yet been able to find any evidence of possible impairments in the ability of either party to drive.

Accident and investigation

The exact cause of the accident is still unclear. The police have started an investigation to clarify whether the driver ran the red light or whether the woman entered the road despite the red light.
