SHOCK at the European Youth Championships: U15 boys win bronze, girls in the final!
IT'S A DRAMATIC MOMENT IN GERMAN TABLE TENNIS! The U15 boys under the leadership of national coach Frank Schönemeier sensationally won BRONZE at the European Youth Championships in Ostrava! What a triumph after an exciting tournament full of surprises and thrills!
In the quarter-finals, the German boys overwhelmed the Romanian team with a clear 3-1 win! Jonas Rinderer celebrated an overwhelming win against David Toro 3-0, while Lukas Wang lost 2-3 in a thrilling duel with Alexandru Pop. But the real heroes appeared in the doubles, when Rinderer and Samuel Kuhl simply overran the opponents 3-0. And Rinderer didn't have to wait long and defeated Pop 3-1 in another powerful performance!
The rise and the fall
But the most interesting moment came in the semi-finals, when the German boys lost 3-0 to the overwhelming power of Italy. A bitter setback that shattered the team, but the bronze medal remains the glorious reward for their efforts! Rinderer fought almost to the bitter end, but lost 1:3 to Francesco Trevisan. Tien Nghia Phong also had no chance and had to surrender 0-3 in the duel against Danilo Faso. The combination of Jonas Rinderer and Samuel Kuhl had to admit defeat in doubles 2:3 – a dramatic end to a great fight!
However, the U19 team was not so successful and lost both group games against Bulgaria and Croatia, which left the fans very excited. Results they didn't expect: 1:3 against Bulgaria and again 1:3 against Croatia. Now it's time to challenge Greece to turn things around!
The U15 girls final: a dream come true!
But the real highlight of the day is the fiber match of the U15 girls, who have once again reached the final and will face the French team! The German team, led by the talented Koharu Itagaki and the strong Josephina Neumann, gave it their all - they beat Spain 3-1 in the quarter-finals and shone in the semi-finals with an impressive 3-0 victory over the Czech Republic!
These incredible successes happen against the backdrop of an almost never-ending rivalry! Last year the German girls won GOLD and the fans are now hoping for their third title in a row. Coach Jie Schöpp has prepared the girls well for the challenge against France, but the competition is strong. A duel that will make all chairs rattle and hearts beat faster!
SENSATIONAL!Who would have thought that the U19 girls would still have a clean slate despite their triple defeats against Ukraine in the quarter-finals and Romania in the placement game 3-2? It remains exciting and hope for a comeback is not lost!
Tuesday's games will set the stage for more dramatic twists and turns, with the U19s set to take on Greece at 11am, while the U15 girls face off in the final at 5.30pm on Table 4. YOU HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS BEFORE!
