Eberhardt strengthens the Erding Gladiators: A new defender for success!
The Erding Gladiators have signed a new player, defender Markus Eberhardt, who will strengthen the team. This is an important step for the Gladiators, who want to establish themselves in the Oberliga Süd next season. Eberhardt's move is part of the club's offensive to optimize the squad after promotion to the top league.
The Gladiators put in an outstanding performance in the 2023/24 season. They won the main round, took third place in the playoffs and finally secured qualification for promotion to the top league. One of the club's goals is to continue its success and establish itself in the new league in order to achieve not only short-term but also sustainable success. Erding Gladiators reports about these strategic steps.
The story of the Erding Gladiators
The ice hockey department of TSV Erding was founded in 1978 after a new artificial ice rink was built. The start took place in the Bavarian State League. As early as 1981, they were promoted to the Bayernliga, the first of many successes in the club's history. In 1985, the team was promoted to the Regionalliga for the first time, and in 1988 the team made it to the Oberliga Süd.
The Gladiators faced numerous challenges. Between 1989 and 1991, several attempts to qualify for the 2nd Bundesliga were unsuccessful. After a playoff round of 16 exit in the 1993/94 season and the founding of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL), the team was classified in the 1st League South. The renaming to “Erding Jets” followed for the professional team, which qualified fourth for the DEL in the first season, but forego promotion.
