Traffic chaos on the A3: Danger of traffic jams near Wertheim until the night!

From May 27, 2025, from 10:36 p.m., there will be significant traffic disruptions on the A3 motorway in Bavaria, especially between Wertheim and Helmstadt. These will last until May 28, 2025, 2:36 a.m. The reason for the traffic restrictions is recovery or repair work due to a vehicle defect. The closed route covers the hard shoulder for a length of around 13.7 kilometers. Since the A3 leads from Frankfurt towards Würzburg, increased traffic volumes and possible traffic jams are expected. Current reports on this come from the Central Traffic Management Office in Bavaria, which closely monitors the traffic situation in order to provide early information about any changes. This information is part of the traffic report [news.de].

At 11:33 p.m. on the same day, stau-a3.de reported that there was slow traffic on the A3 between the Rottal-Ost exit and Hammerbach. This message has been active since 5:52 p.m. and shows a tense traffic situation on this route, which travels at an average speed of 69 km/h. However, there is currently no loss of time when traveling, which means a certain amount of relief for drivers.

Important information about the A3

The A3 is one of the most important motorways in Germany and extends over a total length of 769 km from Emmerich-Elten to Neuhaus am Inn. It connects central cities such as Cologne, Frankfurt am Main, Würzburg and Nuremberg, all of which are important transport hubs. Of particular note is the Frankfurter Kreuz, the busiest motorway junction, which is crucial for national and international traffic. Despite its central role, the A3 is also known for being prone to traffic jams, particularly in large city areas and at important motorway junctions such as the Frankfurter Kreuz and the Kölner Ring. Construction sites, high traffic volumes and accidents often contribute to delays, especially at peak times.

The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure has also published an extensive study known as “Traffic in Numbers” which has been providing current data on transport infrastructure and mobility in Germany for over 50 years. This annual publication contains important information on investments, accidents and traffic figures and is edited in collaboration with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW). The complete issue can be viewed on the BMV website.
