Sensational news shocks motorists in the region! The A6 motorway will be closed from Thursday evening to Tuesday morning for an incredible amount of construction work! Yes, you heard right: from 10 p.m. on Thursday to 6 a.m. on Tuesday, the A6 will be inaccessible at the Schwetzingen/Hockenheim junction! This drastic measure will have fatal consequences for everyone traveling in and around Mannheim, Frankenthal, Saarbrücken and Stuttgart!
The reasons? Absolutely shocking! Work on the bridge over the A6 and the associated dismantling of scaffolding and corrosion protection work are the main causes of this chaos. How long will drivers have to suffer? According to bo.de, only minor work is due after this massive intervention, which is supposedly to be completed by the end of July. To make things even more dramatic, parts of the bridge have already been replaced since the beginning of 2024 - but now drivers' patience is being put to the test!
Absolute traffic disaster!
The lockdown leaves no room for compromise! Motorists are urged to use wide-area diversions, which will be signposted with intimidating dynamic LED signposts at the Walldorf junction and the Mannheim junction. But do you know what that really means? The stress level is increased unprecedentedly by the chaotic detours!
- Richtung Mannheim, Frankenthal, Saarbrücken: Die Umleitung führt vom Autobahnkreuz Walldorf über die A5, gefolgt von der A656 nach Mannheim.
- Richtung Darmstadt, Frankfurt: Die Abfahrt erfolgt ebenfalls am Autobahnkreuz Walldorf über die A5.
- Für die Reisenden nach Heilbronn, Karlsruhe und Stuttgart: Ab Autobahnkreuz Frankenthal auf die A61 umgeleitet.
- Und es wird noch schlimmer! Ab Autobahnkreuz Mannheim über die A656 bis Autobahnkreuz Heidelberg und dann die A5 in Richtung Karlsruhe/Basel!
