Timetable change: New bus routes and light rail trains from June 15th!
On Sunday, June 15, 2025, a comprehensive timetable change will come into force in the Karlsruhe region and the surrounding area, affecting both the AVG lines and the KVV bus lines. This change brings adjustments to the timetables as well as new connections that make local public transport more attractive for passengers. In particular, the timetable change affects the light rail lines and bus traffic in the Rastatt district, as KVV.de reports.
The light rail systems are particularly affected. On lines S31 and S32, which run between Karlsruhe, Bruchsal and Odenheim, a new train from Bruchsal to Odenheim will be introduced, departing at 11:32 a.m. and arriving at 11:55 a.m. However, some express trains, including the connections from Bruchsal to Stettfeld, will be canceled, which will affect travel times.
Extensions and adjustments to the light rail network
A newly expanded double-track section will be put into operation on June 15th for the S4 line, which runs from Karlsruhe via Bretten to Heilbronn and Öhringen. This leads to the introduction of additional express trains between Heilbronn and Eppingen, which will be extended as a direct connection via Schwaigern to Eppingen. During rush hour, there is a service of around 15 minutes between Heilbronn and Schwaigern.
In addition, five new trips will be added from Monday to Friday on lines S41 and S42, which run between Mosbach/Sinsheim and Heilbronn. These changes are intended in particular to promote commuter traffic between cities. Please note the new departure times from Eppingen to Neckarsulm in the early hours of the morning.
Another point of change concerns the S8 line, which serves the area from Karlsruhe to Freudenstadt. The first train from Forbach to Freudenstadt will leave here 10 minutes earlier every day and will therefore start at 5:10 a.m.
Adjustments to bus transport and other innovations
Changes are also noticeable in bus transport in the Rastatt district. Line 231 will be updated accordingly, with the stops between “Rastatt Schlossgalerie” and “Rastatt Mercedes-Benz-Tor-6” receiving better departure times. On line 290, the “Sinzheim Goethestraße” stop is no longer served, but passengers can alternatively use the “Sinzheim Turnhalle”.
In addition, the KVV.MyShuttle operating area from Waldbronn and Karlsbad will be combined. From June 15th there will be a common area that will standardize service times and options for passengers and thus improve accessibility, as SWR.de reports.
Passengers should be advised to pay attention to the information notices at the stops and also to use the electronic timetable information to check any necessary transfer and departure times. This information is crucial to avoid later misunderstandings or annoyances, especially given that some trips will be canceled or reorganized.
