On June 13, 2025, there was a serious motorcycle accident on the K3017, a road between Sontbergen and Gerstetten. The incident reached police at 8:20 p.m. when a 20-year-old man lost control of his Kawasaki during a sharp left turn. The motorcycle left the road and overturned, leaving the driver with serious injuries.

Hikers who found the injured man on the road immediately alerted the emergency services. Due to the severity of his injuries, the man was flown by helicopter to a nearby clinic, where he was hospitalized. The Heidenheim traffic police have started investigating the cause of the accident. Initial findings indicate that speeding in the curve could have played a role.

After the fall, the motorcycle slid about 85 meters across the road before coming to a stop on a forest path to the right of the road. The material damage is estimated at around 5,000 euros. A tow truck was used to recover the motorcycle.
