On Sunday, September 14th, the Uhinger outdoor pool will close its doors after almost five months. The 2023 summer season can look back on a solid balance. A total of 34,277 visitors took advantage of the opportunities offered by the outdoor pool this year. Despite the occasionally unsummery weather, there was positive feedback about the cleanliness and the commitment of the pool staff. Sascha Hintz, head of the city's pool operations, emphasizes that the outdoor pool was open continuously for 120 days in the 2025 bathing season.
A highlight of the season was the outdoor pool festival, which took place on August 13th to mark “750 years of Uhingen”. Originally scheduled for July 31st, the event had to be postponed due to poor weather forecasts. Entry was free on this day and the number of visitors was limited through access controls for security reasons. The event was supported by numerous city employees, DLRG lifeguards and local entrepreneurs, which once again underlined the collective effort.
Preparations for the indoor season
With the end of the outdoor pool season approaching, preparations now begin for the indoor season, which opens to the public on Tuesday, September 16th. The focus is on putting the filter technology into operation and setting up a ticket machine. Those interested can purchase tickets for the indoor swimming season at the outdoor pool. Mayor Matthias Wittlinger emphasizes the great popularity of the outdoor pool and the high level of appreciation that the employees received.
The event in August was largely made possible by sponsors such as EWS Weigele GmbH & Co. KG and the Uhinger Trade and Commerce Association, who donated prizes. The Precious Dancers also showed their creativity with a choreography specially developed for the outdoor pool.
In Germany the situation of swimming pools has generally changed. According to a study by the German Bathing Society, the number of swimming pools has undergone constant change in recent years. This shows how important it is to have fun and safe swimming on site in order to maintain the quality of the leisure offer.
