TSV Hannover-Burgdorf: Strong comeback, but no luck in the end!

TSV Hannover-Burgdorf ended the 2024/2025 handball season in sixth place in the Bundesliga. With a total of 44:24 points, they were at times one of the possible title contenders and impressed with a strong crowd. On average, 9,169 fans watched the team's games, which is the second best figure in the league. Only THW Kiel had a higher average with 10,071 spectators NDR reported.

However, the season was not without challenges for the team, which plays under coach Christian Prokop. One of the decisive turning points was the 30:36 defeat against FA Göppingen on matchday 25. Prokop described this defeat as a “mental crunch” because it heralded a negative run with six winless games in a row. This also led to a disappointing end to the season with a heavy defeat against VfL Gummersbach, which ended with 29:39. Justus Fischer and Marius Steinhauser were the best throwers for Hannover in this game, each scoring five goals, but Gummersbach's dominance was abundantly clear according to Stern.

Players and future prospects

Nevertheless, there were also positive aspects to the season. Players like Renars Uscins and Justus Fischer have extended their contracts and will stay with the club until 2027. Prokop emphasized his team's aggressive style of play and high fighting spirit, which should serve as the basis for future success. Despite the difficulties, TSV Hannover-Burgdorf is striving to improve further in the coming season.

Participation in the European League next season is another bright spot. The challenge on the international stage could provide additional motivation and further develop the players. The TSV fan base can look forward to upcoming games, which promise potentially exciting competitions against top European teams.
