Daffodil Festival in Altaussee: Thousands celebrated the colorful masterpieces!
This year's Daffodil Festival took place on June 2, 2025 in picturesque Altaussee, Austria. This traditional event attracts thousands of visitors every year and transforms the region into a blooming sea of daffodils in the bright colors of yellow, white and green. The festival is the largest flower festival in Austria and offers a colorful program that combines local traditions with the hospitality of the region. This year, 26 artistic figurines made from daffodils were presented, showcasing the creative talents of the participants. The mix of tradition and nature attracts not only locals but also international visitors, as Narzissenfest reports.
This year, numerous teams competed in various categories for the coveted prizes. In the “new frames” category, the “Sweet Kittens” under the direction of Thomas Feldhammer and Franz Loitzl took first place. Closely followed by “Ottl, the Swamp Dachshund” from the Kreuz-Gaiswinkl Musikantenstammtisch in second place. Third place was shared by the characters “Rumpü” (Styrian accordion, Benedikt Winkler & friends) and “Otti, the SchlauWal” (SchlauWal family and friends), who both achieved the same number of points. The category of old frames was dominated by “Teddy Bear”, followed by “Little Panda Learns Tennis” and “BORG School Mouse”. In the junior division, “Jack the Monkey” (Freller Juniors) celebrated a victory.
A creative homage to the region
The “original ideas” category was particularly impressive, in which the “Bauer family” impressed the jury with their table stove. The employees of the LKH Bad Aussee with their creative hospital bed took second place. The “Leaning Tower” was awarded for the most beautiful design, while the “Sweet Kittens” were also able to secure a place among the best. The overall picture of the festival was rounded off by the presence of around 100 international and national journalists, who recorded the highlights and the economic and tourist significance of the festival for the Ausseerland Salzkammergut region, as Salzkammergut Rundblick reported.
The event was organized by the Daffodil Festival Association, which has placed great value on volunteer support since it was founded in 1983. Chairman Ing. Rudolf Grill, in office since January 2019, and around 3,000 helpers from the region contributed to the success of the event. The impressive number of visitors and the positive response from participants show the great importance of the festival for the local community and the tourism industry.
The best moments of this year's Daffodil Festival will be broadcast on ORF 2 on June 9th at 4 p.m. If you want to experience the hustle and bustle live, you should save the date for the next Daffodil Festival, which will take place from May 28th to 31st, 2026 in Bad Aussee.
