Burglary shock in Schlierbach: High-quality tools stolen!
On the night of Wednesday to Thursday, May 30, 2025, a break-in occurred at a company on Siemensstrasse in Schlierbach. Between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., unknown perpetrators pried open a window at the back of the building and gained access to the workshop. There they stole high-quality, already packaged metal blanks and tools. The stolen goods were probably transported away in a van, while the burglars fled undetected. The Uhingen police have started the investigation and secured traces. A connection to a similar, possibly linked burglary in early May is currently being examined. Filstalwelle reports that the act means a significant material loss for the company concerned.
The police have already launched a call for witnesses and are asking the public for information. Companies are increasingly at risk, particularly due to the frequency of such crimes. A recent report shows that the amount of damage caused by theft in companies in Germany was over 2 billion euros in the last two years, with theft from manufacturing and storage rooms alone resulting in damages of over 211 million euros. City News highlights that the police offer free advice on protection against burglary and theft.
The consequences of the break-ins for companies
The threatening statistics about break-ins in companies are supported by data from a web study. In 2019, there were a total of 228,190 cases of residential burglary in Germany, with damage totaling 419 million euros. However, the most common theft occurs from kiosks, department stores and sales rooms, with around 390,000 crimes occurring each year. These numbers highlight the need for companies to take preventative measures to guard against such attacks. Protection One points out that the number of crimes overall fell by 5.9 percent in 2019, but the amount of damage remained relatively constant.
The interim investigation into burglaries in the commercial sector makes it clear that the security of companies is becoming increasingly important in times of increasing burglary crimes. With concrete burglary prevention measures, such incidents can potentially be reduced in the future.
