Biehla is celebrating 800 years! Festivities from June 6th to 8th, 2025
The Biehla district in Kamenz is about to experience an important event: from June 6th to 8th, 2025, the 800th anniversary of the first documented mention of the city of Kamenz and the village of Biehla will be celebrated there. The festivities begin on Friday with the opening of an exhibition on Biehla's chronicle at 5:00 p.m. in the cultural room. The ceremonial opening follows in the festival tent at 6:00 p.m. with a ribbon dance and a speech, accompanied by music by Steffi Lehmann and Martin Lattke. A special highlight of the evening is the lantern parade, accompanied by the Wiednitz – Schwarzkolm fire department marching band, and the big fireworks display at 9:45 p.m. will crown the first day of the festival, as [kamenz.de](https://www.kamenz.de/ Veranstaltung_kamenz_ausfuehrlich/800-jahre-biehla.html) reports.
Saturday, June 7th, starts at 2 p.m. with coffee and cake in the festival tent. From 2:30 p.m. all festival guests can have fun in various competitions. The award ceremonies will take place at 5:00 p.m. The evening promises an entertaining conclusion with live music from “Kamenz can dance”, “Sächserpack” and DJ Dauerrot. On Sunday, the last day of the festival, demonstrations by the children's and youth fire brigade as well as a morning pint with the Kremser Mugge are on the program. From 1:30 p.m., participants can then relax with coffee and cake in the “Alter Consumerism” café. In addition, an adventure trail on the topic of “New and Old Crafts” will be offered from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Entry to the festival site and the exhibition are free throughout the festival.
Regional anniversary celebrations
The festivities in Biehla are part of a comprehensive anniversary year in the Kamenz region. In addition to the 800th anniversary of the city of Kamenz, the village of Pulsnitz is also being honored this year. In addition, the districts of Cunnersdorf, Hausdorf and Schönbach are also celebrating their anniversaries. These three districts are planning a joint festival that will take place at the duck pond and extend over three days. An organizing team consisting of citizens of all ages and locations takes part in organizing the festival. Erik Buchberger and Rosalie Kirste, who represent the younger generation, are particularly active, as [saechsische.de](https://www.saechsische.de/lokales/bautzen-lk/kamenz/kamenz-so- Feiern-drei-ortsteile-2025-einander-ihr-800-jubilaeum-ZAKNC3PY35D7BAQASINAGKROD4.html) reports.
The celebrations in Kamenz and the surrounding districts are all about historical heritage, starting with the document from Bishop Bruno II of Meißen from 1225, which documents the first mention of the city. This documentary basis is not only duly celebrated in Biehla, but also runs as a common thread through all regional festivities. The anticipation of the events in Kamenz and its districts is already noticeable, and citizens are cordially invited to take part in this extraordinary anniversary.
