Shock under the traffic sign: 82-year-old crashes into ambulance!
On October 22, 2025, an accident occurred on the B10 between Geislingen and Amstetten, in which an 82-year-old driver collided with an emergency vehicle from the Amstetten helper on-site group while turning. Fortunately, there were no injuries in this incident, but property damage amounting to around 10,000 euros was caused Southwest Press reported. The route was temporarily closed on one side while police regulated traffic. The emergency service vehicle was damaged in the accident and is currently not operational.
The on-site helpers group, which is made up of volunteer first aiders, thanks them for being lucky that no one was injured and emphasizes the important role they play in an emergency by bridging the time until the professional emergency services arrive.
Additional traffic incidents and their consequences
These accidents come in the context of a broader discussion about road safety. In 2023, a total of 20,380 people were killed in road accidents in the EU, despite a decrease of 1.3% compared to 2022. The data for these statistics are in CARE database documented and used to improve traffic safety and infrastructure.
What is particularly striking is that men have accounted for around three quarters of traffic deaths in the last ten years. Most fatal accidents occurred on rural roads, highlighting the dangers in less urban areas. Transport policy and measures to improve safety on the roads therefore remain a central issue for the authorities.
