The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued a serious storm warning for the Göppingen district. This is aimed at the population for Wednesday, June 4th, 2025. Significant weather conditions are expected with hailstones up to eight centimeters in diameter and extreme wind speeds that can reach hurricane gusts of over 120 km/h. The first thunderstorms are expected on Tuesday evening, June 3, 2025, starting at 5 p.m.
The warning covers a period from 2 p.m. to midnight on June 4th. Strong thunderstorms are forecast for the early evening of June 3rd, moving into the region from the southwest. Gusts of up to 75 km/h and rainfall amounts of up to 25 liters per square meter per hour are expected. The thunderstorms will move eastward in the first half of the night.

The weather situation is currently described as unstable. Warm air flows from the southwest, leading to an increased chance of thunderstorms. The DWD offers a detailed weather forecast that focuses on the southern German regions. Strong thunderstorms with heavy rain of 15 to 25 liters per square meter are forecast in the southeastern half of Germany on Wednesday. Hail of up to two centimeters and stormy gusts of up to 80 km/h are also expected.
In the second half of the night on Wednesday there could be thundery rain, which will mainly occur in the southern half. Heavy rain of 15 to 30 liters per square meter can be expected locally in several hours. Such severe weather developments cannot be ruled out, so the population is asked to be prepared and follow the current weather forecast.
