Festive kick-off: Ray Chen enthusiastically inspires at the SMHMF recourse concert!

On July 1, 2025, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival (SHMF) will begin an exciting opening concert. Instead of the originally announced pianist Khatia Buniatishvili, the celebrated violinist Ray Chen, who will enrich the event with his extraordinary skills. Buniatishvili had to cancel due to illness, which required a program and occupation change. Chen will be on stage together with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra on July 5 and 6.

The planned piece by Buniatishvili, Ludwig van Beethoven's piano concert No. 3 C minor op. 37, is not listed. Instead, Ray Chen will play the violin concert e-minor op. 64 by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. In addition to Mendelssohn's work, the program also includes the piano concerto No. 3 C minor from Mendelssohn and the no. 7 E-Dur symphony by Anton Bruckner.
