Ten-year-old from Esslingen missing: police are searching!

A twelve-year-old girl from Esslingen, Hanna Isabell Clauss, is missing. She left her home address on the evening of May 10, 2025 to visit the Stuttgart Spring Festival at Cannstatter Wasen. Since then she has not returned. The Esslingen criminal police have published a picture of the girl in a public search and are asking the public for help. There is evidence that there was once contact with Hanna, but since her disappearance it remains unclear where she is. The police do not rule out the possibility that she is in a helpless situation.

Hanna Clauß is described as follows: She is 157 cm tall, has a strong build and brightly colored hair in the colors orange, blue and pink. It is believed that she is carrying a blue backpack. The criminal police are urgently asking for information about the girl's whereabouts and have set up the telephone number 0711/3990-330 at the Esslingen police station. Relatives and friends are very worried about the child and are hoping for information from the public.

Public search and coordination of investigations

The search for Hanna Isabell Clauß is part of an extensive public information campaign, as the local police stations are responsible for the immediate search for people. According to the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), missing children are considered to be in particular need of protection. The police can only take action if the relevant requirements for a missing person report are met. If there is an acute danger, large-scale search measures can be initiated, often involving the riot police and emergency services.

The BKA is the central criminal police institution in Germany. Around 9,420 missing person cases are registered in the police information system (INPOL). Around 200 to 300 new searches are added every day. The majority of cases, especially those involving minors, are resolved within a very short period of time. A total of around 18,100 children were missing in 2024, with 96.7% of these cases resolved by the end of the year.

The police are appealing to anyone who may have information about the whereabouts of Hanna Isabell Clauß to come forward. Every clue could be crucial.
