On Sunday afternoon, June 23, 2025, a fire occurred, causing hay bales to burst into flames. The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. when a 37-year-old was driving a tractor and trailer loaded with bales of hay. This is reported by the Teckbote.
The hay bales probably ignited due to heat radiation from the tractor's exhaust system. A smoldering fire broke out, which immediately alerted the fire department and police. The damage caused is estimated at around 500 euros.
Extinguishing measures initiated quickly
In a similar incident on Wednesday evening, a tractor with a hay trailer was traveling on the K7547 from Mörsingen towards Pflummern. The driver suddenly heard a loud bang, causing the vehicle to stop abruptly. The driver noticed smoke and flames under the driver's cab. He first tried to contain the flames with a drink.
A passer-by on site reacted quickly and was able to extinguish the flames with a powder fire extinguisher. The Riedlingen volunteer fire brigade, which also included the Pflummern and Riedlingen departments, carried out extinguishing work. A C-pipe and two respiratory protection teams were used. The district road had to be completely closed during the extinguishing work, and the Pflummern department remained on site to provide security until the vehicle, which was no longer drivable, was recovered.
The entire fire service operation lasted around two hours. The quick response of passers-by and the fire department prevented the fire from spreading and potentially causing more serious damage.
