Plochingen artist Marieluise Bantel inspires London with fading
Marieluise Bantel, a talented artist from Plochingen, has the honor of being selected for the prestigious London Art Biennale. Her works will be on display at Chelsea Old Town Hall from July 16-20, 2025. Bantel, who was born in Metzingen and now lives in Plochingen, shows an impressive depiction in her oil painting “Fading”. The 1.20 x 1.80 meter work of art shows two tulip petals and is intended to be a metaphor for life, as Bantel himself explains. The Biennale is known for its international focus and brings together over 300 artists from all over the world. The selection for the Biennale is a great honor for Bantel and a recognition of her work, which she pursues with passion.
Bantel, who is 75 years old, earned her diploma in free painting at the Stuttgart Free Art School. Before participating in the Biennale, she most recently exhibited her work at the Stratford Gallery in Worcestershire, England. The London Art Biennale is a major platform for contemporary art that takes place every two years. It's worth noting here that Bantel's floral patterns can also be seen on a Shania Twain dress. The dress was designed by designer Suzannah Crabb and shows the aesthetic connection between art and fashion.
Fashion and art combined
The dress, which features Bantel's floral patterns, is part of a limited edition and is inspired by the 1950s. It has a length that reaches below the knee and is made from GOTS certified organic cotton. The print was designed in collaboration with Marieluise Bantel and features her original work Hydrangea - Oil on Canvas, which is also on display at Suzannah London Boutique. With soft blush tones on a navy blue background, the dress looks modern and elegant. It offers a classic button placket, 3/4 length sleeves with decorative pleats and practical side seam pockets. The sustainable production in Portugal underlines the environmentally friendly demands of the design.
The dress is versatile, whether for weddings, racing events or a casual stroll through town. It is produced by using a digital printing process that creates less ink waste compared to traditional methods, further enhancing its sustainable properties. Bantel's floral designs not only bring color and freshness to the fashion world, but are also an expression of the creative connection between art and everyday clothing.
The London Art Biennale and the collaboration with Shania Twain are significant milestones in Bantel's artistic career. Her artistic work is recognized not only in galleries but also on the international fashion stage, indicating the diverse areas of application of her art. These developments provide an exciting taste of what the art world can expect in the coming months.
