Autumn has arrived in the Esslingen district. With falling temperatures and colorful leaves, the landscapes present themselves in autumnal splendor. There are numerous opportunities for residents and visitors to enjoy the season to the fullest. Indoor swimming pools, such as the Merkel'sche Bad in Esslingen with a sauna, offer swimming fun even in bad weather.
Especially at this time of year, the ice skating season is in full swing. The ice skating discos and restaurants in Wernau and Esslingen invite lovers of the smooth surface to spend happy hours. There are also numerous hiking options for nature lovers, such as the circular hike on the Plochinger Höhe, which is around 6 kilometers long and promises breathtaking views.
Events in October
A highlight of autumn is the kite festival taking place on October 3rd in the Ostfilderner Bürgergarten. Under the motto “Kite making, art and live music”, the festival is particularly aimed at families. Visitors can look forward to a varied program that also includes an autumn market with bric-a-brac, art and antiques. In the promenades you can enjoy the scent of various gastronomic offerings. Artist Tobias Ruppert has designed environmentally friendly reusable cups that come from the Black Forest and sustainably support the festival.
Activities include kite making and various children's programs, supported by local partners such as the DRK Ostfildern and the Erich Kästner School. There are also safety precautions to make kite flying safe for everyone involved.
Market days and festivals
The autumn market in Reichenbach an der Fils on October 26th will attract many visitors. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., guests can look forward to Sunday shopping and a children's flea market. The Esslingen Autumn follows just a little later on November 9th, which takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shops in the city center open from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and offer a wide range of handicrafts and flea market stalls.
Another important date is coming up on October 26th, when the time will go back an hour at 3 a.m. The days become short during this time and the unique atmosphere of autumn can be enjoyed to the fullest.
