The Daimler Truck AG has recently been located on a Russian sanction list. This was published by the Kremlin on Monday after a corresponding decree was issued on Friday. The company's headquarters are located in Leinfelden-Echterdingen. The Russian government did not name a direct reason for this measure. A company spokesman said that the sanctions have no effect on the company's ongoing business, since there have been no activities in Russia since February 2022. At that time, Daimler Truck hired all business relationships in and with Russia, including the sale of vehicles and spare parts.
The sanctions against Daimler Truck fall into a broader context of Russia's reactions to the western sanctions that were imposed after the beginning of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. According to the government newspaper "Rossiskaja Gaseta", Daimler Truck has delivered truck to the Ukrainian armed forces in the past, which was confirmed by the company. This delivery of military vehicles could have been decisive for the inclusion on the sanction list.

After the Mercedes-Benz Group sold its shares in the Russian commercial vehicle manufacturer Kamaz in 2022, in which it had previously invested 15 percent, Daimler Truck AG is legally decoupled from its former truck business in Russia. When asked about the exact causes of the sanctions, which result from international tensions, the company said that they have received no further information on these measures. The Russian government has created its own sanction list with Western companies that prohibits any trade and also means that payment obligations towards these companies are void. A spokesman again confirmed that the sanctions did not affect the current business.
Daimler Truck has demolished all connections to Russia since the market retreat in 2022 and therefore remains active on the international market without having to fear any setbacks by the current geopolitical developments.
