Full closure of the L 356: Second construction phase in Hochdorf begins!
The renovation work on the L 356 near Hochdorf, which is being carried out on behalf of the Karlsruhe Regional Council, is entering the next round. On June 2, 2025, the preparatory clearing work for the second construction phase will begin, which includes the road from the Kaltenbach quarry to the L 356 / K 4718 intersection. Again Black Forest messenger reported, the L 356 will be completely closed in this area for the entire construction period.
The renovation work, which has been running since the beginning of December 2024 in the first section between the Hochdorf town entrance and the L 356 / K 4718 intersection to Talheim, was completed faster than planned due to the smooth process. The work in the second construction phase also includes converting the intersection L 356 / K 4718 into a roundabout in order to increase traffic safety. In addition, the road drainage systems will be renewed and regulated.
Diversions and road safety measures
A regional diversion route was set up for the necessary overtaking and diversion routes. This leads via the Ziegelhof roundabout, the L 355 and the B 28 to Horb-Hohenberg/Bildechingen and via the B 463 to Hochdorf. The changes are expected to last until the end of 2025. Motorists and residents are asked to show their understanding for the expected traffic disruptions.
Another important road section of the L 356 is also facing renovation work. From July 1, 2024, the road between the traffic lights to K 9 and the roundabout in Spesbach will also be closed in sections [ Ramstein-Miesenbach ]. The work is divided into three construction phases and will take a total of around seven weeks. Please note that during the first two phases it is not possible to enter and exit Autobahn 62 from the direction of Ramstein-Miesenbach.
Federal transport infrastructure plan and its significance
These measures are part of a larger project within the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan (BVWP) 2030, which includes numerous road, rail and waterway projects. The BVWP was created on the basis of around 2,000 project proposals and assesses their necessity in relation to future transport development, including environmental and nature conservation assessments.
The ongoing work on the L 356 is therefore not only important for local traffic safety and infrastructure, but is also in the context of national transport policy and planning strategies. The progress of these projects will continue to be closely monitored to ensure citizen mobility while promoting sustainability.
