New Unteressendorf community hall: celebratory reopening on October 3rd!
After extensive renovation work, the Unteressendorf community hall will be ceremonially reopened on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 7 p.m. The ceremony is accompanied by an official blessing. This comprehensive modernization has made the hall a future-proof place for citizens while maintaining its historical charm. Originally, an old whey was demolished at this point before the new hall was built in 1978, which also housed the fire department and the Raiffeisen bank. The first expansion of the hall took place in 1996, followed by a comprehensive renovation after the new fire station was built and the fire department moved out.
Particularly noteworthy are the conversions of the former fire department rooms into modern club rooms for the fools' guild and the music club. A central element of the renovation is the installation of a modern pellet heating system to provide sustainable energy to both the community hall and the listed town hall. In order to meet safety and comfort standards, a new fire alarm system was installed and accessibility to the hall was made barrier-free. The lighting was also converted to energy-saving LED technology and an intelligent BUS system was introduced.
Architectural concept and energy renovation
The architectural planning for the modernization included various aspects, such as structural planning and interior design. The aim was to renovate the hall in terms of energy efficiency and make it barrier-free. The entire building technology was renewed, including plumbing, heating, ventilation and electrical installations. Testing the roof structure to determine its suitability for a possible PV system ensures a future-oriented energy supply.
The new design of the foyer, which has generous glass surfaces, creates a light-flooded reception area. Access to the hall is made easier by the barrier-free design of the foyer. A special feature is the shelf structure with colored seating platforms, which can be used for readings and lectures. The event rooms are equipped with modern equipment that meets the requirements for fire protection and room acoustics.
A meeting place for the community
Mayor Stefan Jäckle highlights the central role of the hall in community life and invites all citizens to its reopening. The renovation of the hall is a significant step for the community to create a modern meeting place that can be used for various events. In addition, the planning also incorporated local identity into the design in order to preserve the character of the community.
With a focus on sustainability and energy efficiency, the existing oil heating system was replaced by a modern heat pump, which, in combination with a PV system, provides heating and hot water requirements. The comprehensive energy renovation measures guarantee a healthy indoor climate through the installation of a ventilation system. The remodel also includes new sustainable materials, such as the birch baffle wall and beige marbled linoleum flooring, which support the gym's modern appearance.
The official reopening of the Community Hall will be a celebratory occasion celebrating the hard work and positive changes in the community.
