Denkendorf is preparing: New crisis plan ensures security!

The community of Denkendorf has adopted a comprehensive action plan for crises and emergencies. The aim of this plan is to raise citizen awareness and prepare for possible natural disasters and technical disruptions. This was decided unanimously by the local council and aims to prepare the population as best as possible for situations such as heavy rain, floods, storms and infrastructure failures. The crisis and emergency plan includes specifically defined measures that can be implemented quickly in ongoing emergencies.

A central component of the concept is the establishment of four decentralized contact and information points that are distributed throughout the municipality. These are located in the upper town center at the Schafhaus, in the fire station, in the town hall and in the foyer of the festival hall. In addition, two special emergency meeting points will be set up: the cafeteria of the Albert Schweitzer School and the foyer of the festival hall. Emergency calls are received, first aid is provided and relief measures are organized at these locations.

Warming halls and personal precautions

In order to be prepared for all eventualities, warming halls will be set up in the large hall of the festival hall and in the school gymnasium of the Albert Schweitzer School. Crisis communication is coordinated in the town hall, which acts as the central contact point. The measures that have already been implemented, which serve to protect against flooding on the Körsch as well as a concept for heavy rain risk management, show the community's determination to take action.

An important aspect of the action plan is raising citizens' awareness of self-care and neighborly help. The population is called upon to stock up on food, drinking water, medication, personal aids and hygiene items. The Federal Agency for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief also recommends aiming for self-sufficiency for at least ten days, with a basic supply for three days being the minimum goal.

Warning systems and crisis communication

Warning systems will also be put in place as part of the emergency plan. These include the warning app NINA for nationwide warnings, KATWARN for specific dangerous situations and Cell Broadcast, which spreads messages in radio cells. The community is working closely with the fire department, the German Red Cross and other aid organizations to coordinate the measures. Those responsible rate the collaboration as consistently positive.

Information on emergency preparedness is also available to the public on the district's website. The community of Denkendorf's comprehensive preparation is intended to help us react quickly and effectively in an emergency and ensure the safety of citizens. Security is a community responsibility that should be actively supported, especially given the increasing frequency of extreme weather events and other potential crisis situations.
