On September 29, 2025, the 49th student sports festival took place in Köngen, an important event that brought together numerous young athletes. Over 220 sporting talents from the region demonstrated their skills while the traditional club TSV Köngen organized the event. For many participants it was the last competition of the season before the indoor season begins.
What is particularly noteworthy is that only the district elite of the Esslingen district will take part in a district comparison fight next Friday in Baden-Baden. This will be another important competition in which the athletes from Esslingen will compete against the districts of Rastatt, Baden-Baden, Bühl and the Südpfalz district.
Expectations of the Christa Steiner Memorial Sports Festival
Another highlight is just around the corner: On September 27, 2025, the 49th State Open Christa Steiner Memorial Sports Festival will be held at the Fuchsgrube Stadium in Köngen. This event is aimed at school students and young people. Under the motto “fair competition among peers,” participants will experience one of the last outdoor events of the year.
The history of the Christa Steiner Memorial Sports Festival goes back almost 50 years and many athletes who competed here also took part in major international events. The organizers expect over 280 participants, similar to last year, and warmly invite visitors from Köngen and the surrounding area who are interested in sports.
Support and food
The event starts at 10:00 a.m., but the judges and helpers are assigned at 9:00 a.m. The organizers emphasize the need for support from helpers and judges to make the competition run smoothly. The physical well-being of the participants and spectators is also taken care of. Patricia Müller and Elke Wachendorfer offer a selection of coffee, cakes, snacks and drinks.
Overall, the organizers are looking forward to a sporting festival that brings together not only athletes, but also the entire community. For everyone involved, the competition is a valuable opportunity to prepare for the coming indoor season.
