Aileen Kuhn: Germany's hammer throw star with World Cup dreams!

Athletics in the Esslingen district is currently impressing with remarkable achievements. An outstanding example is the hammer thrower Aileen Kuhn, who comes from Eintracht Frankfurt. Kuhn recently increased her personal best: Instead of 71.58 meters, as she had previously thrown, she now achieved an impressive distance of 72.48 meters. This improvement has enabled her to top the German rankings in the hammer throw. Her achievements are not only remarkable at the national level, she is also ranked 16th in the world annual best list, which is led by the American athlete Brooke Andersen with 79.29 meters, as the Stuttgart News report.

Kuhn has prepared intensively for the season over the past few months and used numerous competitions to meet the standards for the upcoming championships. The competitions in Neuwied and Halle also saw her reach over 70 meters (71.56 m and 71.58 m). Her next competition is already coming up: Next weekend at the International Sparkassen Hammer Throw Meeting in Fränkisch-Crumbach on June 7th and 8th she will have the opportunity to further improve her performance.

Improvement through new training focuses

The path to her current success was not always easy. Aileen Kuhn, who is 21 years old, recently lost her long-time coach Carolin Streipart, who works as the state coach in Thuringia. The move to Frankfurt and working with Kathrin Klaas, a former world-class hammer thrower, was initially a challenge. But with the support of her friend, the decathlete Emanuel Molleker, and the new environment at Eintracht Frankfurt, she quickly found her way. Kuhn describes the collaboration with Klaas as a “great and profitable combination” and greatly appreciates the support of her new club.

Despite initial uncertainty, Kuhn is optimistic for the current season. She has already exceeded the required standards for the U23 European Championships in Bergen and the World Championships in Tokyo. In addition to the upcoming competitions this weekend, she is also looking ahead to the Universiade in the Rhine-Ruhr area, which will take place from July 16th to 27th. The changes in her sporting environment have not only opened up new opportunities for her, but she also has the chance to usher in a new era in the German hammer throw athletics represents.
