Ascension Day 2025: celebrations, food and fun in the Böblingen district!

Ascension Day, also known as Father's Day, will be celebrated in many cities and towns this year on Thursday, May 27, 2025. There are numerous events on the program in the Böblingen district that both celebrate local traditions and provide culinary delights. SZBZ reports that a festival timetable shows special highlights in the region.

In Sindelfingen, the Father's Day hockey festival takes place in the Darmsheim district. Organized by the Sindelfingen fire department, the event begins at 10.30 a.m. with a morning pint, accompanied by music from the local music club. Among other things, gyros, grilled feta, as well as coffee and cake are offered here. Visitors also have the opportunity to explore neighboring events throughout the district.

Popular festivals and events

In Dagersheim, the fire brigade band invites you to the Göckelesfest, which offers music and a selection of food and drinks from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Another highlight is the anniversary hocketse of the Raith butcher shop in Magstadt, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary and serving white sausage breakfast pints as well as spit roast and schnitzel from 11 a.m.

There are culinary specialties and musical performances there between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. A bicycle action day in Maichingen offers athletes two different routes to celebrate the 950th anniversary of Maichingen. The cycle tour starts at 10:30 a.m. and with two routes of 34 km and 58 km, there is something for every member of the family.

Market days and festivals

The Street Food Fiesta in Böblingen also takes place from Thursday to Sunday at the Lower Lake. Here visitors can enjoy international street food specialties and enjoy live cooking and street music. Furthermore, the Döffinger Father's Day market opens on Wednesday with a tapping of a barrel and offers 87 commercial and 17 flea market stalls on Thursday from 9 a.m.

In romantic Breitenholz, wine lovers can try organically certified wines and grilled sausages from the charcoal grill at the vineyard broom from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. A cover band will provide musical enjoyment in the Sportanlagen Allmend restaurant in Maichingen from 6 p.m. Admission is free.
