Young people from BW, Saarland, and Rhineland-Palatinate will travel to France in an environmentally friendly way with the Deutschlandticket in the summer of 2025.

Travel without borders: Germany ticket for young explorers to France!
Teenagers and young adults under the age of 28 from Baden-Württemberg, Saarland or Rhineland-Palatinate can look forward to a special opportunity to travel to France in the months of July and August 2025. How suedwest24.de reported, you can travel across borders to the Grand Est region with the Deutschlandticket or the D-Ticket JugendBW.
This initiative not only promotes cross-border mobility, but also promotes environmentally friendly travel. Valid tickets allow use of French regional transport, including TER Fluo trains to Paris Gare de l’Est and Luxembourg. However, it should be noted that reservations are required for trips from Strasbourg and Mulhouse to Paris.
Available connections
The promotional offers cover several key connections available to young travelers. Additional usable routes include:
- Bus 231 Rastatt – Soufflenheim/Seltz
- Bus 68R026 Breisach – Colmar
- Regionalbahn RB 25 Offenburg – Strasbourg
- Schienenersatzverkehr Müllheim – Mulhouse
It is also important that the Deutschlandticket is not accepted on the tram between Kehl and Strasbourg. Here you have to use the RB 25 regional train from Offenburg to get to France.
Campaign to promote sustainable travel
The aim of this summer campaign is to promote sustainable travel and support cross-border coexistence. Future public transport network highlights that the campaign for passengers under 28 was launched in 2024 and will now be continued in the coming years.
The initiative is aimed not only at local youth, but also at young people from the Grand Est region. In order to take part in the campaign, travelers must carry a valid ticket (Deutschland-Ticket or D-Ticket JugendBW) and, if applicable, ID with proof of address. The Jeune Grand or Borderless pass is also required in France.
This campaign not only represents an excellent opportunity for young people to explore neighboring countries, but also underlines the commitment to sustainable transport policy in the region. Ferry tickets are limited to regional trains and exclude long-distance transport such as the ICE or TGV as well as city transport (buses, subways, trams).
The organization recommends finding out about timetables and reservation options in advance to ensure smooth travel.
