Double fire terror in Öschelbronn: Police are investigating!
In tranquil Öschelbronn, a fire broke out in the area of a sports and leisure area on Mötzinger Straße on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at around 3:20 p.m. The fire initially affected a hedge that burned over a width of ten meters. The fire brigade and police were quickly deployed, with fire brigade spokesman Marvin Gfrörer reporting heavy smoke and an immediate extinguishing attack. The Mötzingen fire department supported the emergency services with additional breathing apparatus, which ultimately helped contain the spread of the fire.
On Sunday, June 15, 2025, at approximately 6:20 p.m., emergency services were again called to the same location because two tree stumps had caught fire near a forest kindergarten. This fire was quickly extinguished. The police reported that three incubators were lying on the ground, which could indicate deliberate destruction. In this case too, the police are not ruling out arson and have begun investigations to clarify a possible connection between the two incidents.
Investigations and calling for witnesses
The authorities are asking for help from the public. Due to the location of the area, which is slightly outside, a call for witnesses was launched. The police are asking anyone who can provide information about the incidents to contact the Gäu police station on 07032 95491-0 or by email to herrenberg.prev@polizei.bwl.de. Questions can also be directed to the Ludwigsburg police headquarters on 07141 18-8777 or by email to ludwigsburg.pp@polizei.bwl.de.
Although rain fell on Sunday, reducing the chance of a dry fire, the cause remains unclear. In addition, around 40 emergency services were on site, although many of them were heavily contaminated and therefore required decontamination. Two trees had to be felled to further minimize the risk of fire.
The police and fire brigade remain on alert and are doing everything they can to ensure the security situation in the region. The information collected and the ongoing investigation show that pranks and riots cannot be tolerated.
The reporting on these incidents comes from, among others, Gäubote and Presseportal.
