Young heroes from Leonberg find valuable safe in the river!
In Leonberg in Baden-Württemberg, two twelve-year-old boys, Matti and Jonas, discovered a gray metal box in the river Glems on their way to school. This find happened shortly before the Easter holidays and turned out to be a tank cabinet that was stolen during a break -in in Stuttgart. The boys immediately informed the emergency call 110 after they found pearl jewelry and other valuable objects in the water. They discovered six pearl chains, a medal and a valuable watch that were part of the thief. The police secured the find and found that the armored cabinet came from a burglary in which gold and cash worth several thousand euros had been stolen. The thieves had torn the safe out of the wall and thrown into the river.
After the police had secured the armored cabinet, the owner of the safe was great pleasure about the return of their valuable objects, which also included important personal documents. She plans to hand over a finder of several hundred euros to the brave discoverers. The exemplary behavior of the boys was praised by the Stuttgart police, and an official personally thanked Matti and Jonas for their honorable commitment.
burglaries in Stuttgart
The discovery of Matti and Jonas falls into a period in which Stuttgart was affected by several burglaries. On March 3, 2025, burglaries were reported in different urban areas, with rich prey being made in two cases. In Stuttgart-Süd, perpetrators managed to open a window of a single-family house between 7:30 a.m. and 11.30 p.m. The burglars ransacked all rooms and stole cash and jewelry worth several thousand euros.
Another burglary occurred in Stuttgart-Vaihingen, where the patio door of a single-family house was broken up between 4:30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. Here, too, a lot of jewelry fell into the hands of the perpetrators. In the meantime, a burglary attempt was reported in Stuttgart-Degerloch in the street on the Haigst. However, two burglars tried to get into an apartment building via a balcony door, but failed. One perpetrator had a yellowish backpack while the other appeared in dark clothing. The police are looking for witnesses and asks for information on 0711/89905778.
The incidents show that security in the Stuttgart districts remains an issue. While the boys have a positive story to tell, the police are challenged to combat the increasing number of burglaries and to sensitize the citizens.
