World record attempt: 261 people form a living wind turbine in Herrenberg!

On Sunday, June 28, 2025, the Herrenberg festival site will be the scene of an extraordinary world record attempt. The citizens' initiative (BI) Schwanzwind plans to get over 261 people to line up in the shape of a living wind turbine. This campaign aims to set a simple world record and send a strong signal for wind power as a clean and sustainable energy source. The idea behind the living wind turbine comes from the citizens' initiative Windkraft BB, which stands for sustainable energy production and civic engagement. A technical dress rehearsal has already been carried out successfully, so the event is off to a promising start.

The colorful information and cultural program begins at 1:00 p.m. to get the participants in the mood for the world record attempt. The actual record attempt takes place at 3:00 p.m., in which the participants run synchronously to simulate the rotor blades of a wind turbine. The event is expected to be a family gathering with live music, information and food and drink, making it an unforgettable experience for young and old.

A sign of the energy transition

With this campaign, the initiators of Schwanzwind Herrenberg, WindkraftBB and ProWindkraft Neckar-Alb want to emphasize that renewable energies are not only necessary, but also desired by the population. The current world record was set in 2017 by IG Windkraft in Austria and saw over 260 people in a similar formation on Vienna's Heldenplatz.

Those responsible for the event emphasize the independence and non-partisan nature of the association. Groups that counteract democratic goals and social cohesion were excluded from participation, which further illustrates the integrative nature of the initiative.

Invitation to all interested parties

The citizens' initiative Schwanzwind invites all citizens to take part in this special event and thus become part of history. The event will not only bring a record-breaking gathering of people, but will also provide the opportunity to discuss the importance of wind power for a sustainable future. The focus is on the commitment to local operator models in which citizens, businesses and municipalities benefit from the profits.

Visit the Herrenberg festival site on June 28th and support this unique event to promote wind power. Further information can be found on the websites of SZBZ and Windkraft BB.
