Discover the Junge Donau” wind farm: information trip for Herrenbergers!
The city of Herrenberg is actively participating in the discussion about renewable energies, especially with regard to the planned referendum on leasing municipal forest areas for wind energy, which will take place on July 13th. In order to enable citizens to make an informed decision, the city is organizing an information trip to the “Junge Donau” wind farm in Immendingen, in the neighboring Tuttlingen district. This event will be held on June 7th and represents a central building block in the preparations for the upcoming decision.
During the excursion, participants have the opportunity to experience the wind farm up close and learn about various aspects of wind power use. The event is intended to help citizens gain first impressions and clarify questions in a direct exchange with experts. Not only is an experience report from the community of Immendingen presented, but a detailed walk through the wind farm is also offered. Discussions with those responsible from Immendingen and the project developer Prokon eG are also part of the tour in order to provide citizens with comprehensive information.

This initiative is also supported by the federal program “Living Democracy!” supported by the Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. The city of Herrenberg shows how important it is to include citizen participation in the process surrounding renewable energies and to actively involve the population in decision-making.
In a broader context, new guidelines on financial citizen participation in the field of renewable energy published by eueco are also available. These include practical information and support for project sponsors and municipalities in order to further develop and optimize participation models. Timely information about this is relevant for everyone involved in the planning and implementation of such projects. These developments are part of a dynamic change that is also noticeable in Herrenberg, where the municipality actively involves and informs its citizens.
